As a functional nutritionist I work with...
A foundational approach to nutritional therapy. This keeps me focussed on addressing the 'why' behind your symptoms. This means we are not merely masking dysfunction, but getting to the root cause.
Fatigue, bloating, IBS, sleeplessness, lost vitality, hormone dysfunction, joint pain, gallstones, weight gain, eczema, autoimmune disease, infertility depression etc., are just some of the symptoms of underlying imbalance in your body.
The foundations we will address are:
Nutrient Dense Diet
A properly prepared, nutrient dense diet provides the ultimate foundation leading to optimal health. Great food – unrefined, is the key. I will help you to make changes to your diet. We will work together on this at your pace, working to incorporate the changes into your busy life.
Digestion is fundamental to nutritional therapy. It determines what nutrients are absorbed into the body.
I can help you to restore the health of your digestive system with my understanding of the gastrointestinal tract and ability to identify the nutritional support your body requires.
Blood Sugar Regulation
Our excessive consumption of refined carbohydrates and sugar places our body into a constant state of stress and contributes to our epidemic of diabetes and obesity. Blood sugar dysregulation disrupts all aspects of human physiology, including energy, the integrity of every tissue and blood vessel, brain health, cardiovascular health and the entire endocrine system. I am trained to identify blood sugar dysregulation, identify dietary stressors and address the dysfunction.
We cannot make minerals in our body, we must get them from the foods we eat and the water we drink. The many roles of minerals in the body include: maintaining the pH of the body, facilitating the transfer of nutrients into the cells, nerve conduction, contraction and relaxation of muscles, regulating tissue growth, and providing structural and functional support. As a Nutritional therapy practitioner I can identify mineral deficiencies within the body and help it to become replenished.
Urinary System and Hydration
Water makes up 55-60% of our total body mass and has many roles in the body. Yet water is the most common nutritional deficiency. Kidney health relates to proper elimination, maintaining mineral balance and regulating blood cell production. I can assess dysfunction within this system and assist your body back into balance.
Fatty Acid Balance
Fatty Acid balance within the body is necessary to health, including musculoskeletal, endocrine, cardiovascular, and immune health.
I can determine the fatty acids needed to help restore balance in your body.
